The battery group is responsible for the powering the system. We decided to use a 12V 10Ah rechargeable battery. It should power all parts (maximum output) for two hours. The parts that need to the powered are: the control system (Raspberry Pi, 5V), LCD battery display (5V), ankle motor (6-7.4V), and knee motor (12 V). We need to make two voltage regulators to adjust the voltage from the main battery to the proper levels.
As of 12/2/2014, we have already accomplished:
- Designing and testing the voltage regulators for the Raspberry Pi and LCD display.
- Designing the voltage regulator for knee motor.
- Deciding on a suitable battery for the final project. (For the prototype we will use a 12V battery with small capacitance, and, after everything tested, will order the final one.)
As of 12/2/2014, our task before the end of the semester is to:
- Test the voltage regulator with motor.
